The nature trails and hiking paths form the core of the recreational services for the visitors in the Park. One of the goals mentioned in the Syöte Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy 2011 is to provide quality recreational services for increasing numbers of domestic and international visitors. Syöte National Park was granted with approximately 0.2 M project funding for enhancing the trail network.
In 2011-2013 the trail network will be thoroughly reviewed and refurbished to ensure that the offer and demands meet. The Syöte resort has set a ten year goal to double the visitor numbers. The Park Rangers are facing a challenge to ensure the adequacy and sustainability of visitor services.
The local solution is to decrease the total length of the current trail network (about 120 kilometres), construct the most popular trails in a durable way and ensure that they have the facilities for greater numbers of visitors. When the work is done, the Rangers in Syöte National Park have plenty of new experience in trail management, hopefully less kilometres to take care of, and more sustainable visitor services.
