Charter: Part II
Step by Step

Who can apply?
In Part II, tourism businesses within a protected area already awarded the Charter and working in close cooperation can sign a partnership agreement with the protected area.
How can protected areas apply?
- Protected areas must communicate to EUROPARC Federation their intent to start implementing Charter Part II and request the related documents or methodologies;
- Ensure the adequate implementation of Part II by presenting the necessary documents to EUROPARC, training the responsible staff, verifying the criteria for tourism business and preparing and signing the partnership agreement.
How can tourism businesses apply?
- Businesses must request the necessary information and documents from their protected area;
Basic requirements
- Participation in the Charter forum established by the protected area;
- Participation in the delivery of the protected area’s sustainable tourism strategy;
- To agree an action plan to develop the sustainable activities of the business with the protected area;
- Send the programme of activity together with the necessary documents to the protected area;
Evaluation process
- The business will be visited by a verifier to check the programme of activity and the commitment of the tourism business;
- The business must sign the partnership agreement with the protected area committing itself to implement the action plan
- After three years, the business must renew its action plan
